Getting closer!

It has been extremely hard to sit back and watch this year's drag racing from the sidelines. Whether it's standing on the starting line at Gainesville, or sitting on the couch watching Las Vegas, it's no fun! My father has been working on getting some companies involved and putting a deal together to get me back in the seat by some time this summer and beyond. The extremely frustrating part is that we do not need that much money to finish out the year but with the economy right now, it's not so easy. I have been talking with a couple of teams and I'm optimistic that we will come up with something to get back out on the track.

Since I haven't been at the track, I've been trying to keep myself busy doing other things to keep my mind off drag racing 24/7. My roommate, Brad Sweet who drives for Kasey Kahne in the USAC sprint car and midget car series has finally started his season. I am a huge a dirt track fan and I made my first race of the year last weekend at the baddest dirt track of them all, Eldora! A buddy and I decided to buy a pop up camper to haul to the dirt tracks this summer and Eldora would be its maiden voyage. Not ten minutes after pulling out of my parents driveway, bang!, we blew a tire on the camper. After changing the tire in the pouring rain, we finally made it to Eldora later that night. The temperature was a little cold for everybody’s liking but the camper served its purpose. Sweet was fast out of the gate and was looking racey all night. He started from the front row in the A main and looked like an early favorite to win. Battling hard for the lead, Brad flipped coming out of turn 2 on the last while trying to take the lead. That's usually Brad's style, win it or wear it! Hopefully he'll do better as he has two more dirt races this weekend at Gas City and my home town Lawrenceburg. Its nice to take in as many sprint car races as I can because I'm usually on the road so much that I miss a lot of his races. From time to time you'll run into a fellow drag racer or drag racing fan at the dirt tracks. Who knows, maybe you'll catch me in a sprint car some time. Well that’s all for now, see ya at the drags or the dirt track!
